Join us for a spa-like approach to sculpture as we dig into the process of alginate casting (think algae, think seaweed wraps!) as a way of learning about the outstanding sculptures of Augustus Saint-Gaudens.  In this interdisciplinary workshop, participants will do hand casts to explore relationships to Saint-Gaudens’s bronze casting process (no experience necessary).  The workshop will be led by Joe Montroy, a sculptor and educator known for his embrace of a range of sculptural media, with assistance from Linn Krikorian, Art Center Manager.

We are particularly delighted also to include Andrew Spahr, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, who will provide a behind-the-scenes approach to mounting The Sculpture of Augustus Saint-Gaudens.  Museum Educator and Lead Interpreter Ann Bible will facilitate a visit to the exhibition, which will have just opened.  Workshop attendees will leave with a workbook of ideas for the classroom.
