ARTalk Online: Visualizing Manchester: Creative Views on City Planning

Selected date

Tuesday March 16

Selected time

5:00 PM  –  6:00 PM

How can artists help us see our environment in new and unexpected ways? How do city planners use data, lived experiences, interviews, and other tools to address issues in the city? Join Jodie Nazaka, Senior Planner for the City of Manchester, and Samantha Cataldo, curator of contemporary art at the Currier Museum, for a conversation about city planning and the ways in which artists can provide valuable perspectives on municipal issues, with a focus on the work featured in the exhibition Critical Cartography: Larissa Fassler in Manchester. Fassler’s drawings reflect her experiences in the city while visiting from Berlin, Germany in the summer of 2019, and raise questions that encourage critical dialogue.

This event is free and is part of the Currier’s ARTalk Online series held monthly on Tuesday evenings. All ARTalks in this series will be held online via Zoom and open to the first 100 registrants. They will also be livestreamed on the Currier’s Facebook page for unlimited viewing. To receive the free Zoom link register at the link below.
